I've never been a bronzing or contouring powder girl, but being that pale girl as I am and as my cheeks never naturally blush, I'm always craving a bit of color on those face of mine and blush have always been my bestfriends since I firstly dip one's toes into makeup back in my teenager days. I remember my dad picking up my first blush ever with me, and it was a not that flattering terracotta shade with a tun of golden shimmers running through it that I would never wear nowadays but at those times was perfect to suit my not that picky necessities. But now things have changed, I became a little bit obsessed and have built up quite a collection... these are a few of my favorites!
Non sono mai stata una ragazza da bronzer o contouring, ma essendo molto pallida e visto che non arrissisco praticamente mai, bramo da sempre un po' di colore sul viso e i blush sono sempre stati i miei migliori amici già quando iniziai a truccarmi per le prime volte. Mi ricordo mio papà scegliere il mio primo blush con me, ed era una tonalità di terracotta non troppo adatta a me con un marea di shimmer dorati che oggigiorno non indosserei mai, ma che a quei tempi era perfetto per le mie esigenze non troppo pretenziose. Ma ora le cose sono cambiate, sono diventata una fan dei blush e ho costruito una piccola collezione... e questi sono alcuni dei miei preferiti!
My second ever blush was a Kiko one and dates back to my tenager days when I used to think Kiko was the best makeup brand out there and I could find anything I would ever need to one of their counter - oh how wrong I was! But this old blush is very good quality and still is one of my favorite shades expecially when fall comes: it's the Kiko Soft Touch Blush in 105 Dark Rose (£7,50), a rosy almost plummy shade which looks very vintage on the cheeks and goes on very matte with a nice silky finish. It blends really easly and there's never the risk to pick up too much color and look like a clown - which is great with this dark shades. I love the healthy look it gives and the color is pretty nice too especially in colder month in my opinion, looks good with almost every makeup I wear, but it's maybe not that long wearing as others. An oldie but a goodie is the H&M Blusher in 12 Dazzling Peach (£2,99) which I bought as soon as I started watching Youtube beauty videos and as I understood peachy colors could look great on me. It's a super cheap peach blush with a bit of tiny shimmers and pearliness running trough it, that gives a light touch of color and a beautiful light to the face at the same time. This is just lighly pigmented - and here you can find a prolix explanation on why I love sheer blush - so it's pretty easy to apply and impossible to overdo with it, it gives a nice healthy glow and a 'lit from within' look, which is maybe not the best in lasting a long time on you cheeks, but for not even £3 you can't go wrong. It still is one of the shade I reach when I need a quick and easy touch of colors on my cheeks to look more alive and healthier.
Il mio secondo blush è stato uno di Kiko e risale alla mia adolescenza quando pensavo che Kiko fosse il brand di makeup migliore e che tra i loro stand potessi trovare qualsiasi cosa di cui avessi bisogno - quanto mi sbagliavo! Ma questo vecchio blush è in realtà di buona qualità ed è ancora una delle mie tonalità preferite soprattutto quando arriva l'autunno: si tratta del Kiko Soft Touch Blush in 105 Dark Rose (€7,50), un rosa antico tendente al prugna che dona un aspetto molto vintage alle guance ed è anche matte con un finish setoso. Si stende facilmente e non c'è mai il rischio di prelevarne troppo e sembrare un clown - che è sempre positivo con queste tonalità scure. Amo il fatto che mi fa sembrare in salute quando lo indosso e che il colore sia piuttosto interessante soprattutto nei mesi più freddi, sta bene abbinato a tutti i makeup che indosso, ma forse è meno duraturo di altri. Un altro vecchissimo blush è il H&M Blusher in 12 Dazzling Peach (€3,95) che ho comprato appena ho iniziato a guardare video di makeup su Youtube e ho capito che i colori pescati avrebbero potuto donarmi parecchio. E' un blush super economico, pesca con qualche shimmer e una leggera perlescenza che insieme donano un tocco di colore e una bellissima luce al viso allo stesso tempo. E' solo leggermente pigmentato - e qui trovate una prolissa spiegazione sul perchè amo i blush sheer - quindi è molto semplice da applicare ed è impossibile esagerare con lui, dona luminosità e un aspetto in salute, e magari non è il migliore nel durare a lungo sulle guance, ma per nemmeno 4€ non si può sbagliare. E' ancora una delle tonalità che scelgo per un semplice e veloce tocco di colore sulle guance e per sembrare più viva e in salute.
During the last couple of years I fell in love with cream blush as I found they work better on me than powder blush, also I generally love the texture especially the ones that gives a wet finish. I built up quite a collection now and I can see how many different finishes exist out there, but my all time favorites have to be the NYX Cream Blush in Boho Chic* (£5,50) and the Bourjois Cream Blush in 02 Healthy Glow (£7,30). The NYX is a pretty barbie pink with some silver shimmers in it and has the just quoted wet finish and a very sticky yet very blendable and buildable formula that gives a nice glow and is very long lasting; the Bourjois one quickly became my all time favorite blush from the bunch as it has the best formula ever, it's creamy but once blended has the classic cream-to-powder texture that I really love as it's the most comfortable and flattering on my skin, also the color is gorgeous, a peachy pink that gives the healthiest look to my pesky plain skin, it is very long wearing, has a nice smell, there are some shimmers running throught it... oh, it's just the best. The Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tints are extremely good too and I got two shades since I love the formula so much: Bang is a pure red and Score is a pretty shimmery pink with a hint of peach in it. They both go on very sheer but are buildable and give a lovely texture to your cheeks with a light touch of color like if you were naturally blushing. Unfortunately I think these blush were discontinued at some point since they are every month more difficult to find in shops and online but if you find them somewhere definitely grab them as quickly as you can.
Durante gli ultimi due anni mi sono innamorata dei blush in crema dato che trovo siano migliori su di me rispetto ai blush in polvere, inoltre in genere ne amo la texture soprattutto di quelli che donano un finish quasi bagnato. Ho costruito una piccola collezione negli anni e ora posso vedere quanti differenti finish esistano, ma i miei preferiti devono essere il NYX Cream Blush in Boho Chic* (€7,99) e il Bourjois Cream Blush in 02 Healthy Glow (€9,83). Il blush NYX è un carinissimo rosa barbie con qualche shimmer argentato e dona l'appena menzionato finish bagnato e una formula un po' appiccicosa ma molto sfumabile e modulabile che dona una bella luminosità ed è molto duraturo; il blush Bourjois è diventato velocemente il mio blush preferito di sempre perchè ha la miglior formulazione di sempre, è cremoso ma una volta steso ha la classica texture cream-to-powder che io amo molto visto che è la più comoda e lusinghiera sulla mia pelle, inoltre il colore è bellissimo, un rosa pescato che dona il migliore aspetto al mio viso piatto, è molto duraturo, ha un buon profumo, contiene qualche shimmer... è semplicemente perfetto. I blush Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint sono anch'essi ottimi e infatti ne ho due tonalità visto che ne amo moltissimo la formula: Bang è un rosso puro e Score è un carinissimo rosa con una punta di pesca. Entrambi sono molto sheer ma modulabili e donano una texture naturale e un pizzico di colore come se si stesse realmente arrossendo. Sfortunatamente questi blush mi sa che sono andati fuori produzione visto che ogni mese sono più impossibili da trovare nei negozi e online, ma se li vedete ancora portatevene a casa uno perchè vale la pena.
As for powder blush last year I discovered the TheBalm Instain Blush (£18,50) and I got the shade Swiss Dot which is a bright coraly peach color. These blush are made to stay on your cheeks for a really long time, indeed mine lasts all day long and is the most long wearing powder blush I've ever owned in my collection. This is the blush I go for when I want a beautiful bright pop of color on my cheeks and a silky texture, but especially when I need a long wearing choice that would stay on all day. As for mineral blush I'm in love with the Neve Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Boundoir (€12,90) which is a beautiful mauve pink with some silver shimmers in it. This is slightly different from what I usually go for, but is really lovely as the hint of mauve gives such a pretty healthy look and suits perfectly my skintone without toning it down, plus the shimmers bring a beautiful light to the face without the need of a highlighter.
Per quanto riguarda i blush in polvere lo scorso anno ho scoperto i blush TheBalm Instain Blush (€24,05) e ho scelto la tonalità Swiss Dot, un corallo pescato molto acceso. Questi blush sono fatti per stare sulle guance molto a lungo, infatti il mio dura tutto il giorno ed è il blush in polvere più duraturo che ho mai posseduto. Questo è il blush che scelto quando voglio un tocco di colore più acceso sulle guance e una texture setosa, ma soprattutto quando ho bisogno che il blush duri da mattina a sera. Per quanto riguarda i blush minerali sono innamorata del Neve Cosmetics Mineral Blush in Boundoir (€12,90), uno splendido rosa malva con degli shimmer rosa e argentati all'interno. E' leggermente diverso da quello per cui vado di solito, ma è davvero adorabile perchè la punta di malva dona un aspetto in salute e si adatta perfettamente alla tonalità della mia pelle senza spegnerla, in più gli shimmer portano al viso una bellissima luce senza il bisogno di un illuminante.
The most recent new entries are the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (£22) in Lust and the Soap & Glory Glow All Out (£11). The former is a limited edition shade from the MSF line that is the one I always find more interesting from MAC; a super flattering rose shade with a tun of pink and silver shimmers in it, this blush is the one I reach for the days when I look a living dead and want to bring color and light to my face. It brings a lovely refined texture to your skin as well so is definitely appropriate for any dull skin day or some more special occasions. The latter is meant to be an highlighter for your cheekbones or an all over luminizing powder, but I also love applying it on my cheek for a really light touch of peach color and a beautiful glow. Not mentioning that since I got the NARS One Night Stand (LE) blush palette I'm a huge fan of NARS face powders, especially Orgasm and Deep Throat.
Le new entry più recenti sono il MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (€29,74) in Lust e il Soap & Glory Glow All Out (£11). Il primo è una tonalità in edizione limitata dalla linea MSF che è quella che trovo più interessante da sempre tra i prodotti MAC; un rosa antico con moltissimi shimmer rosa e argentati, questo blush è quello che raggiungo i giorni in cui mi sento uno zombie e voglio un po' di colore e luce al viso. Dona una texture particolare alla pelle quindi è decisamente appropriato per i giorni in cui il viso è un po' spento o per occasioni più particolari. L'altro invece è pensato per essere un illuminante per gli zigomi o una polvere illuminante per tutto il viso, ma mi piace anche applicarlo sulle guance per un leggero tocco di colore pescato e una nuova luminosità. Senza menzionare che da quando possiedo la palette NARS One Night Stand (LE) sono diventata un enorme fan dei blush NARS, soprattutto Orgasm e Deep Throat.
