Asking for beauty samples

I feel like I had more wrong foundation or concealer shades than the actual right match for my skin, and there's nothing more annoying than buying a super expensive foundation and getting the wrong shade. I know in USA you can bring your beauty products back to the shop if they don't work for you, but here we are not allowed to do that and once you try a product you have to keep it. Only recently I finally realize asking for beauty sample is my right as customer, as being that I can only try it in the shop and not testing it on my own in different occasions and under different lights, it's becoming so easy getting the wrong shade.

I'm not only talking about foundations and concealers, I think it's a customer's right asking for any beauty sample, as also skincare is pretty subjective and you really need to try a product at least for a few days to see if your skin is going to react badly to it or if it actually could love it. It's our right until we actually go beyond the bounds of decency, and of course asking for beauty sample is ok if you really need to try a product and doesn't mean you can go back and ask multiple samples of the same product until you actually get a full size. I also know it's difficult to get samples of drugstore products and that sometimes the shop assistants aren't too keen in helping you and giving a sample, but I wrote down a little list of suggestions and tips to use to ask and obtain a foundation, concealer (or beauty in general) sample to test at home by your own and with your own light.

- Always keep a little empty pot or jar in your handbag when you go out of beauty shopping, so that you can use it if the shop assistant say they don't have sample pots
- Ask politely to try the product in the shop, on your hands or face, to see the color or the consistency and talk about what you think (this can be super useful because the shop assistant could actually help you understand if this is the product for you without even trying it)
- Try to always look like you actually want to buy the product and you're very interested in it (which should come natural as you are meant to be interested if you're asking for a sample)
- Ask politely if it's possible to have a little sample of the product to try at home - usually they will agree, but if they don't, try asking if you can only have one pump from the tester in your little jar
- Always remember to don't be rude in the slightest because the shop assistant could have had a bad day and be rude with you as well (this happened to me so many times)
- Explain why you want to try the product at home (for me for example I've just asked for a Chanel foundation sample, and besides the color issue, I wanted to try it a few times before buying a full size since I read it's pretty highly fragranced and having sensitive skin this could be a problem)
- Always say thanks before going once obtained the sample - I know it was your right to ask, but a lot of shop assistants could actually have said no, so be thankful
- Don't ever be afraid to ask - sometimes shop assistants will come in your help spontaneously, but if not, don't be afraid, it's your own right to ask and its their work to answer every of your questions.

I know that to understand a product and figure out if it works for you and your skin more than a few applications are required, but having a little sample is always worth as you can actually really test it a few days and have it in your home, test the lasting power, the shade, the consistency, how your skin reacts, and consider if it's really worth buying a full size. So this were the tips I've learned recently and hopefully these could come helpful to someone of you who may needs a sample and don't know how to ask, or who always gets the wrong shade.

Nel recente Giveaway avevo chiesto di commentare con suggerimenti/idee o domande, e molte di voi hanno posto delle domande di bellezza, così ho deciso di creare una sorta di "rubrica" Question&Answer (Domanda&Risposta) in cui rispondo a dieci delle domande scelte. Potrebbe essere un'idea nel caso aveste bisogno di consigli da parte mia o voleste pormi delle domande (che c'entrino con il fai-da-te, la bellezza, la moda, ma anche non), e se avrò un minimo di dieci domande alle quali rispondere, potrei creare questo genere di post ogni mese, o comunque periodicamente!

Le domande di seguito sono quasi tutte di bellezza: premetto che le mie risposte sono date in base alla mia personale esperienza, ai miei personali gusti. Non sono un'esperta, ma solo un'appassionata, e molte cose non le conosco ancora, quindi do solo consigli, idee e suggerimenti che su di me funzionano, ma non è detto che sia così per tutte quante!

Questo sarà un post diverso, ma spero molto utile per chi ha avuto un problema come il mio o simile, perchè io sarei stata davvero contenta di leggere un post simile giusto qualche giorno fa! La mia "collezione" di makeup non è così enorme, ma era da tempo che la mia makeup bag iniziava a straripare e da altrettanto tempo che parte del mio makeup era finito in vari cassetti senza ordine alcuno, perchè altrimenti non avrei saputo dove riporlo. Ora che ho la mia postazione makeup, tutto è finito là dentro con meno ordine di prima; così finalmente mi sono decisa a sistemarlo e dargli un senso e dell'organizzazione.

La cintura che accentua la vita è romantica ed elegante soprattutto su un vestito corto, ma a volte un po' monotona. Eppure ci sono tantissimi modi per personalizzarla e renderla un po' diversa, anche per far cadere l'occhio sul punto vita ancora più facilmente. Dai metodi più complessi ai più tradizionali, ormai il web è pieno di tutorial per legare la cintura nel modi più svariati! Io li ho provati un po' tutti, e ho sperimentato un po', fino a quando non sono riuscita a realizzare la mia forma preferita: doppio infinito. Concetto profondo e complesso, non come questo brevissimo tutorial :)

Summer skin care routine / Review.

Per inaugurare la nuova fotocamera (ebbene sì, alla fine è arrivata), ho pensato di mostrarvi la mia skin care routine, ovvero la mia routine quotidiana - o quasi - per la cura della pelle. Non so quanto questo post possa essere utile o interessante, dato che io e la cura della pelle non andiamo realmente d'accordo. Non sono una che si impegna molto, soprattutto perchè vado molto a periodi: ci sono periodi in cui la skin care mi interessa molto, altri (come i periodi dell'anno più freddi) in cui non mi importa nulla di quello che metto sulla mia pelle, a volte non metto proprio niente. 

Cosa fare mentre lo smalto asciuga.

Scusate l'inutilità di questo post, ma appunto non sapevo proprio cosa fare mentre mi si asciugava lo smalto. Aspettatevi quindi presto una nuova nail art (penso sarà un tutorial, a meno che non venga qualcosa di osceno) e intanto purtroppo vi lascio solo questo post indecente!

Make Up Idea: bronze for green.

Ehilà! Oggi post veloce, giusto perchè volevo mostrarvi questo make up che ho adorato l'anno scorso, e che sta tornando il preferito per la mia everyday routine, con delle piccole variazioni.

Penso che sia un trucco facilissimo da realizzare, veloce soprattutto, niente di particolare, che però fa risaltare quasi magicamente il verde dei miei occhi. Penso quindi di aver finalmente trovato il make up che fa per me.
Il bronzo è il colore ideale per chi ha gli occhi chiari, per un look più soft di uno smoky nero, ma davvero d'effetto.

DIY: Brush cleanser.

Oggi tra le tante altre cose (è stata una giornata piena di impegni veri, non come quello di cui sto per parlare), ho deciso di lavare i miei pennelli! Tempo fa lavavo i pennelli sotto il getto d'acqua con del sapone o dello shampoo, però ho sempre trovato difficoltà a pulire alla perfezione il pennello per eyeliner in gel. Così sperimentando ho creato un cleanser per pennelli che funziona alla perfezione su qualsiasi tipo di pennello: non faccio nemmeno più la fatica di passarli sulla mano fino a quando non sono puliti. Senza aggiungere che si consuma molta meno acqua.

So che ovviamente esistono una montagna di marchi cosmetici che vendono cleanser per pennelli, sicuramente anche migliori del mio, ma per quanto mi riguarda, dato che non sono una make up artist, che non lavo i pennelli spessissimo, che non ho quindi particolari bisogni, questo cleanser fai-da-te funziona alla perfezione. Lo creeremo inoltre con ingredienti che tutte voi hanno sicuramente in casa, e quindi non spenderemo un solo euro per lavare e disinfettare i nostri pennelli: saranno come nuovi!

Il caldo, l'afa, l'estate in generale, fanno bene alla nostra bellezza? A quali cose bisogna stare attente? A quali bisogna prestare maggior attenzione? E i nostri prodotti? Quali usare e quali no?

1. Molti smalti quando le temperature sono più alte di 20-30 gradi cambiano leggermente le loro caratteristiche: alcuni diventano più densi, altri quando applicati formano delle bollicine.
