April Freebies.

One thing that really excited me in the UK was passing by a newsstand and find out almost every women's magazine had a freebie. I love them! I don't know if April is a particulary lucky month or if it's always like this in the UK, but finding three (or maybe four) women's magazines with lovely makeup or beauty freebies whilst here in Italy we get one of them every three or four months minimum, was to me a big source of excitment. I bought two of them, and since they're new and some of you may have missed them this time, I thought I could share them with you and talk about my first impressions on those two amazing freebies.

Una delle cose che mi ha particolarmente entusiasmato in UK era passare affianco ad un'edicola e trovare quasi ogni rivista femminile con un omaggio. E io amo gli omaggi! Non so se sia aprile ad essere un mese particolarmente fortunato o se sia sempre così nel Regno Unito, ma trovare tre (o anche quattro) riviste con dei freebie di makeup o beauty quando qui in Italia capita una volta ogni tre/quattro mesi minimo, è stata per me una grande fonte di eccitazione. Ne ho comprate due, e dato che sono appena uscite, che una di essere è reperibile anche dalle italiane e che magari qualcuna di voi si recherà in UK presto, ho pensato di condividerle con voi e di farvi sapere le mie prime impressioni sui due omaggi.

When I spot Elle UK Magazine April 2014 (4£) with a free full size Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm (18£ | Available from March 15th) in WHSmith I was just all over it and without thinking about it a second more I went ahead and grabbed the last copy that day. I never tried any Percy and Reed product before but I've always been curious about them and their quality, so when I saw it I thought it would be the best opportunity to try out something new. Also I'm steadily fighting with my hair and something to keep it at bay is always welcome in my routine. This balm isn't too gelly nor too liquid, it's the best creamy consistency to be blended into your hair without leaving it greasy or heavy; weightless and with a nice fresh fragrance, this balm aims to do wonders such as moisturize, soften, smooth, define and give a light hold to your hair, that makes it perfect to be a primer or a foundation for other styling products to be applied on top. You just need to apply it on wet hair and work it from roots to ends, then procede to your next hair product or with styling. I find this gives a bit of an hold to make every hair style last longer, however I'm still testing it out and I need to try it in few different scenaries to make a clear idea, then I'll report you back. Also Elle is one of my favorite magazines and I know it's not the cheapest on the market these days but I love the majority of their features and in the end you're getting a £18 worth product for free. Quando ho avvistato Elle UK Magazine April 2014 (4£) con in omaggio una full size del balsamo Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm (18£ | disponibile dal 15 Marzo) da WHSmith ero talmente entusiasta che senza pensarci un secondo di più mi ci sono avventata sopra ed ho afferrato l'ultima copia rimasta quel giorno. Non avevo mai provato nessun prodotto Percy and Reed prima d'ora ma ne sono sempre stata incuriosita riguardo la qualità, così quando l'ho visto ho pensato che sarebbe stata un'ottima occasione per provare qualcosa di nuovo. Inoltre combatto quotidianamente e da tempi immemori con i miei capelli, e qualcosa che mi aiuti a tenerli a bada è sempre il benvenuto nella mia routine. Questo balsamo ha una consistenza cremosa ideale, non troppo simil-gel né troppo liquida, perfetta per essere applicato sui capelli senza lasciarli unti o appesantiti; leggerissimo e con un profumo piacevole e fresco, questo balsamo promette di fare meraviglie ai capelli, come idratarli, ammorbidirli, addolcirli, definirli e dargli una leggera presa, che lo rende perfetto da essere usato come base o primer per altri prodotti per capelli da applicarci sopra. Basta semplicemente applicarne una noce sui capelli lavati e bagnati e lavorarlo dalle radici alle punte, poi procedere con il prossimo prodotto o con la messa in piega. Trovo che effettivamente permetta alla piega di durare un po' più a lungo e meglio, in ogni caso però lo sto ancora testando e ho bisogno di provarlo in differenti scenari per farmi un'idea più chiara, poi riporterò il tutto. Inoltre Elle è una delle mie riviste preferite da sempre e so che non è esattamente la più economica sul mercato ma ne amo la maggior parte degli articoli e in fondo c'è un buon prodotto del valore di 18£ in regalo. Inoltre Katie Holmes è bellissima in copertina, e sì, cliccando qui potete reperirlo anche dall'Italia (ero l'unica a non saperlo?).

Glamour UK April 2014 (2£) wasn't in my to-buy list actually, but when I spot their cute freebies I just couldn't say no. The April issue comes with one of four different ModelCo makeup freebies: a lip liner, a black eye pencil, a mascara or a lip gloss (two shades available). I went for the ModelCo Colour Box Eye Pencil (15£) since I'm on the hunt for a good soft black eye pencil for a while, and this looked really appealing with the built in sharpener to have a precise application wherever you are. This eye pencil is enriched with shea butter which makes it very soft and easy to apply, but not less long wearing, in fact even if as you apply it can totally be soften and smoked with a brush, after a few minutes it's completely fixed onto your eyelid and it lasts a really long time. I'm pretty impressed with the formula, but I'm going to test it out even more especially on the waterline, also I find really clever to add a built in sharpener as it makes this eye pencil really good for travelling or applying on the go - even though it's not the best sharpener ever. For just £2 I would have bought every copy to have all the differents freebies, but I decided to be a nice person in the end and leave them for the girl after me, but their mascara and lip pencil were really appealing to me as well. I was also super impressed with the magazine as I never am with the italian version.

Glamour UK April 2014 (2£) non era in realtà nella mia lista delle cose da comprare, ma quando ho adocchiato i bellissimi omaggi non ho potuto dire di no. Ogni uscita di aprile ha infatti uno tra quattro diversi omaggi dal brand di makeup (e non solo) ModelCo: una matita labbra, una matita occhi nera, un mascara o un lip gloss (in due diverse tonalità tra cui scegliere). Io ho optato per la matita ModelCo Colour Box Eye Pencil (14€) dato che sto cercando una matita nera morbida e di buona qualità da tempo, e questa mi intrigava parecchio con il temperino integrato per avere un'applicazione precisa in qualsiasi luogo. Questa matita occhi è arricchita di burro di karité che la rende molto morbida e facile da applicare, ma non per questo meno duratura, infatti anche se appena la si applica è del tutto possibile sfumare e addolcire la riga, dopo pochi minuti si fissa sulla palpebra e non si muove più per ore. Sono piuttosto impressionata dalla formula, ma la testerò meglio soprattutto sulla rima interna, inoltre trovo davvero interessante l'idea di un temperino integrato nel tappo dato che rende questa matita l'ideale per i viaggi o per applicarla on the go - anche se il temperino non è il migliore di sempre. Per soli 2£ avrei comprato ogni copia per avere tutti i differenti omaggi, ma alla fine ho deciso di essere una brava persona e lasciarli alle ragazze dopo di me, ma sia il mascara sia la matita labbra mi sarebbero interessati molto. Inoltre sono particolarmente impressionata dalla rivista come non lo sono mai con la sua versione italiana, quindi se fate un salto in UK a breve non perdetevela!


I don't really know how equipped the UK newsstands are - here in Italy it's pretty difficult to buy a copy with a freebie - and the day I got my Elle copy it was the last from the stand, so if you see them go ahead and grab them as you can, because both are amazing deals with amazing freebies. Also Marie Claire has a lip gloss as a freebie, so if you like lipglosses don't miss that one too! Hopefully this post was helpful to anyone of you who didn't know about these April issues, and let me know if you got them and if you are enjoying your freebies as well.

Non so quanto le edicole inglesi siano fornite, ma il giorno che ho acquistato la mia copia di Elle era l'ultima su quello scaffale, quindi se siete da quelle parti e le trovate non esitate! Invece sono super felice di aver scoperto che LookFantastic venda Elle UK perchè significa che finalmente posso reperire anche la versione cartacea (con tanto di omaggi) anche in Italia - prima andavo di versioni digitali a gogò.  Anche Marie Claire ha il suo omaggio, un lip gloss, quindi se siete da quelle parti e siete fan dei gloss non fatevelo scappare!
