Back on the nails front.

As I announched somewhere last week, I'm finally definitely back on the nails front, which pratically means: not being in university now, I'm a bit less stressed and I stopped biting my nails again, and finally decided I wanted them to grow strong again and I needed to take care of them. There are actually three more reasons why I remembered having nails too over there, and these three good boys are the main subjects of this blog post. Be aware all you nail biters, this stuff could help you too. Here are my nails saviors.

Come ho annunciato da qualche parte la settimana scorsa, sono finalmente tornata sul fronte unghie, che in sostanza significa: non andando più all'università ogni giorno sono un po' meno stressata e ho smesso di mangiarmi le unghie di nuovo, e ho finalmente deciso che voglio farle crescere e ho bisogno di prendermi cura di loro. Ci sono in realtà altre tre ragioni grazie alle quali mi sono ricordata di avere anche delle unghie, e questi tre cari amici sono i soggetti di questo post. State attente voi mangiatrici di unghie, magari questi prodotti possono aiutare anche voi. Ecco la salvezza delle mie unghie sotto forma di prodotti.

Back in January I found a mini Orly nail polish as a freebie in an italian magazine, which helped me a lot going back on wanting beautiful nails to wear it. It's a lovely plummy shade which answers when called Orly Plum Noir (9,50£), a beautiful name for a beautiful shade. I know a lot of you are all about spring lighter soft nails colors now, but I just rediscovered my love for dark nails and it needs to be celebrated; also we're still in wintertime, so dark nails should be still out there, right?! I love how easy to apply this nail polish can be, but you definitely need a good pair of coats to make it completely opaque, and only there it reveals the amazing deepness of its color. It's definitely not as you can see from the bottle, it's a lot deeper and darker on the nails, but the formula is pretty glossy and polished, which I totally am in love with. I'm not a huge fan of its lasting power though, since it chips after only two days, however which a good top coat it can last longer. I find its color classy, elegant, but with that touch of color in the day light that brings the perfect balance to an outfit.

A gennaio ho trovato un mini smalto Orly come omaggio di un'uscita di TuStyle, che mi ha aiutato moltissimo a tornare a volere delle belle unghie su cui indossarlo. E' un adorabile tonalità prugna che risponde al nome di  Orly Plum Noir (11,50€), un bellissimo nome per un bellissimo colore. So che molte di voi saranno già sincronizzate con la primavera e i colori chiari o vivaci, ma ho appena riscoperto il mio amore per le unghie scure e va celebrato; inoltre siamo ufficialmente ancora in inverno, quindi è ancora periodo di colori scuri, o no?! Amo la facilità con cui questo smalto si stende, ma per avere un bel colore coprente sono decisamente necessarie due passate, solo così rivela l'intensità del suo colore. Non è per certo come appare dalla bottiglietta sulle unghie, è molto più scuro e profondo, ma la formula è lucida e laccata, cosa che amo. Non sono invece una grande fan della durata, dato che si scheggia dopo un paio di giorni, ma in ogni caso un buon top coat riesce a farlo durare di più. Trovo che sia una tonalità classica, elegante, ma con quel pizzico di color prugna nella luce del giorno che porta un outfit al perfetto equilibrio.

Another new piece in my nails stash is a type of product I never used to like before: the Nailtiques Cuticle and Skin Gel (16£)* is a more creamy than gelly solution for your cuticles packed with glycerin and aloe gel, to be applied onto the nail and especially the cuticles area to hydrate, soften and help them heal if cracked or in bad conditions. And let the nail biters inside of me talk: I love biting cuticles. You can image how ruined they where before I sobered and started to take care of them again. This cuticles gel helped me a lot, it seriously hydrates the skin around your nails and leave it softer, helping cracked skin to heal faster thanks to the aloe proprieties. I love applying it in the evening right before bed time and right after a good old hand cream. Also, if you know me a bit you'll be aware I love multi-porpose products, and this gel can also be used to heal and hydrate your skin anywhere else on your body; some examples? Knees, elbows or wherever your skin is dry and dehydrated. In a nutshell it's your perfect winter ally. I need to try it on my feet too!

Un altro nuovo pezzo nel mio "bagaglio unghie" è un tipo di prodotto che non sono mai stata troppo abituata ad amare prima: il Nailtiques Cuticle and Skin Gel (20,05€)* è una soluzione più cremosa che in gel per le cuticole contenente glicerina e gel d'aloe, da applicare sulle unghie e in particolare nella zona cuticole per idratarla, ammorbidirla e aiutarla a guarire se screpolata o in brutte condizioni. E lasciate parlare la mangiatrice di unghie che è in me: amo mangiare le cuticole. Potete immaginare come fossero rovinate prima che rinsavissi e ricominciassi a prendermene cura. Questo gel mi ha aiutato moltissimo, idrata seriamente la pelle attorno alle unghie lasciandola soffice, aiutandola a guarire più velocemente grazie alle proprietà dell'aloe. Amo applicarla la sera prima del letto e dopo una buona crema idratante per le mani. Inoltre, se mi conoscete un po' saprete per certo che amo i prodotti multi uso, e questo gel può anche essere usato per aiutare a guarire e idratare la pelle screpolata in qualsiasi altra zona del corpo; alcuni esempi? Ginocchia, gomiti, o dovunque la vostra pelle risulta secca e disidratata. In sostanza è il perfetto alleato della pelle d'inverno. Dovrei proprio provarlo anche sui piedi!

Lastly a recent love affair: Kiko Nail Polish Remover Fast and Easy (5,90£). You may know I'm not a huge Kiko fan recently, but there are still some products that draw my attention, and one of those is this nail polish remover tried just because my mum purchased it a few month ago. It's one of those jar filled with a sponge and nail polish remover, you just need to put a finger a time in it and in a few seconds it removes all your nail polish really easly and effortless. A lot of brands are doing these, some of them are cheaper, some really expensive. I owned the Sephora one, my first one, a bit more expensive than the Kiko one, and I never felt the need to change, however the Kiko option I would say it's much better. First of all it removes nail polish faster, you literally need five to ten seconds to remove all of it from one nail, it makes the thing so easy. Secondly it smells like berries, which I love, and the scent remains on your nails for a while even after you wash your hands. Lastly, it's a lot more gentle: as I said I was a nail biter and it means I always had some nicks here and there which always burn when I use a not so gentle nail polish remover, but with this the problem is solved. It's only lack is containing acetone, not too good for your nails, but if you are in a rush and need to take off that bad chipped nail polish of yours, this would be your best friend.

Infine un amore nato di recente: Kiko Nail Polish Remover Fast and Easy (5,90€). Saprete forse che ultimamente non sono una grande fan di Kiko, ma ci sono comunque alcuni prodotti che si salvano e che a volte attirano ancora la mia attenzione, e uno di questi è proprio il solvente di cui vi sto parlando, che ho provato solo perchè mia mamma l'ha acquistato mesi fa. E' uno di quei "solventi ad immersione", in sostanza una jar con all'interno una spugna e del solvente rimuovi smalto, in cui bisogna intingere dito per dito e lui in pochi secondi rimuove tutto lo smalto facilmente e senza problemi. Moltissimi brand li stanno producendo, alcuni sono economici altri meno. Io avevo quello proposto da Sephora, che è stato il primo, un po' più costoso di questo di Kiko, e non ho mai sentito il bisogno di cambiare, e però l'opzione Kiko mi sta piacendo molto di più. Prima di tutto rimuove lo smalto molto più velocemente, servono letteralmente dai cinque ai dieci secondi massimo per ogni unghia, rende la cosa davvero semplice. Secondo, profuma di fragole e frutti rossi, cosa che adoro, e il profumo rimane a lungo sulle unghie anche dopo essersi lavate le mani. Infine, è molto più delicato: come ho detto mi mangiavo le unghie, che significa che spesso e volentieri la pelle lì intorno era screpolata e con la maggior parte dei solventi bruciava, ma con questo il problema è risolto. L'unico difetto è che contiene acetone, non il massimo per le unghie, ma se sei di fretta e hai bisogno di rimuovere lo smalto scheggiato velocemente, questo prodotto si rivelerà il tuo migliore amico.


These were my nails ally and saviors lately, and thanks to them, to the fact I'm not torturing my nails anymore, and that I'm wearing nail polish only sporadically (leave those nails breathe!), my nails looks a lot better, they are harder and healthier, plus they're growing really fast and in good conditions with almost no need to shape them. I'm totally back on the nails front now, and even if I'm still in love with the dark nails trend, I can't wait for the spring new launches! What about your nails saviors? Questi erano i miei alleati per le unghie di recente, e grazie a loro, al fatto che non le sto più torturando, e che indosso lo smalto solo sporadicamente (lasciatele respirare!), le mie unghie appaiono davvero in migliori condizioni, sono più solide e sane, in più stanno crescendo molto velocemente con quasi nessun bisogno di modellarle. Sono quindi decisamente tornata sul fronte unghie, e anche se sono ancora innamorata degli smalti scuri, non vedo l'ora dei nuovi lanci primaverili! Quali sono i vostri salvatori per unghie?
