Review: L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint.

It's been a complete year since I bought my last liquid foundation, Pupa Active Light, which disappointed me so much that I started buying only mineral or powder bases. However, when the L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint came out, I was pretty intrigued not only by its own concept, but also by all the pretty enthusiastic reviews I read all around the beauty blogs world. When I had the opportunity to buy it with an almost 60+% discount, I simply decided to try it. I didn't even know if the shade I got was right for my skintone, also I thought it would caused me a bad break out or something, since that's what all the liquid foundations I tried did. I have not great expectations on this, but, as you could maybe predict by the quantity of mentions it received in my last favorites posts, I finally happened to love it.

E' passato un anno da quando ho acquistato il mio ultimo fondotinta liquido, il Pupa Active Light, che mi ha delusa così tanto che ho cominciato a comprare solo basi minerali o in polvere. Quando il L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint è uscito, però, ero molto intrigata non solo dal suo concept molto particolare, ma anche da tutte le review molto entusiaste che leggevo in giro per il mondo dei beauty blog. Quando ho avuto l'opportunità di comprarlo con circa il 60+% di sconto, ho semplicemente deciso di prenderlo. Non sapevo nemmeno se la tonalità presa fosse quella giusta per me, inoltre pensavo mi avrebbe provocato brutti sfoghi e brufoletti come tutti gli altri fondi liquidi provati. Non avevo grandi aspettative, ma, come avrete certamente intuito dalla quantità di menzioni che ha ricevuto nei miei ultimi post di preferiti, me ne sono invece innamorata.

Nude Magique Eau de Teint is a pretty particular and innovative in the formula foundation, it's meant to be light and completely matte, soft on the skin, lightweight and almost sheer. It's a water based foundation containing a beautiful amount of volatile oils, which are not there to hydrate your skin and give a shiny finish at all, but actually to make the application more fluid and smooth: they start to evaporate immediately when you blend it on your face, and you can see it visibly, since the oily and liquid consistency of when you take it out from the bottle suddenly becomes a matte, silky, soft texture. I like to call it a "liquid-to-powder" foundation, since it reminds me a lot the cream-to-powder blushers texture: it immediately transforms into a sort of powder finish on the skin, but not in a powdery awful way, just like if you applied a good foundation and a fixing powder right after, you know, that silky finish. I really enjoy it since I don't need to apply a powder on top at all, it has no similarity with all the other sticky liquid foundations finishes, plus it lasts on the face a good amount of time that you don't physically feel the need of something that take it in place.

Nude Magique Eau de Teint è un fondotinta piuttosto particolare e innovativo per la sua formula, è pensato per essere leggero e completamente opaco, soffice sulla pelle, ma anche quasi sheer. E' un fondotinta a base d'acqua che contiene per di più una bella quantità di oli volatili, che non sono lì per idratare o donare un finish luminoso, bensì per rendere l'applicazione più fluida e semplice: iniziano ad evaporare nell'immediato momento in cui si stende il fondotinta sulla pelle, e lo si può vedere visibilmente, dato che la consistenza oleosa e liquida che aveva quando lo si è tirato fuori dalla boccetta immediatamente si trasforma in una texture opaca, soffice e setosa sulla pelle. Mi piace chiamarlo un fondotinta dal finish "liquid-to-powder", dato che mi ricorda molto i blush cream-to-powder: fa apparire all'istante una sorta di finish da cipria, ma non polveroso in un modo brutto, ma anzi come se si avesse applicato un buon fondotinta e sopra una spolverata di cipria; insomma, quel finish setoso, capite? Mi piace molto perchè non ho più alcun bisogno della cipria quando lo applico, non ha alcuna somiglianza con tutti quei fondotinta che rimangono quasi appiccicosi sulla pelle, in più dura davvero a lungo sul viso, tanto che non si sente fisicamente l'esigenza di applicarci qualcosa sopra per fissarlo.

Talking about its covering power, it's definitely not a full coverage foundation, but I wouldn't even term it sheer or light coverage: it's totally buildable and you can modulate the coverage as you like, and in general I would say it has a medium coverage. It covers pretty well any kind of redness or discoloration if you don't have any particular skin problem; anyway I always like to touch up anything that still show thorough with a full coverage concealer, but this happens with every kind of foundation, and actually with this I sometimes forget this step. The finish is matte and silky, it evens out the complexion pretty amazingly and makes you look like you have perfect Barbie skin, erasing every imperfection you may have, which I love. It's not a super hydrating foundation, but I'm using it in wintertime when my skin is the driest, and I never had any itchy and drying problems with it. Plus it is totally lightweight and comfortable on the skin even after a full day of wearing, I never find it heavy, it's like you're not wearing it at all, like you only wear your own skin but even more beautiful, but in the evening it's still there or on your cotton pad damp with your Bioderma, or whatever makeup remover you use: it's also easy to remove with only a few swipes. It never ever creases: I generally have a huge (to me) problem with foundations, a big creasing revolution in my smile wrinkle, I hate it, but this never do that, and to me it's the best thing. I know I sound a bit too enthusiastic and like I'm a L'Oreal clamant sponsor, but I'm not payed at all, I just love it that much and think everyone should have it in their lifes, expecially if you have acne prone skin and are afraid of liquid foundations like I was; but I also think dry skins would enjoy wearing it too.

Parlando invece di coprenza, non è decisamente un fondotinta ad alta coprenza, ma non lo definirei nemmeno così sheer o a bassa coprenza: è molto modulabile e si può raggiungere l'opacità che si desidera, e in generale direi che la sua coprenza è media. Copre molto bene qualsiasi tipo di rossore se non si hanno pelli troppo problematiche; in ogni caso mi piace sempre coprire con un correttore full coverage le imperfezioni che ancora si notano, ma questo accade con qualsiasi fondotinta, e anzi con questo a volte mi scordo completamente il passaggio del correttore. Il finish è matte e setoso, uniforma l'incarnato alla perfezione, facendo sembrare la pelle quella di una Barbie, cancellando le imperfezioni. Non è un fondotinta super idratante, ma lo sto usando in inverno quando la mia pelle è nella sua fase più secca, e non ho mai avuto problemi di pelle che tira o sensazioni di secchezza quando lo indosso. In più è totalmente leggero e confortevole da indossare sulla pelle anche un'intera giornata, non lo trovo mai pesante, è come se non lo si stesse indossando, come se si indossasse solo la propria pelle, ma un po' meglio; eppure la sera è ancora lì dove lo si lascia, o sul dischetto di cotone impregnato di Bioderma o qualsiasi altro struccante si usi per rimuoverlo: è anche molto facile da struccare. Non va mai, mai nelle rughette: generalmente ho un enorme (a mio avviso) problema con i fondotinta, una rivoluzione di insinuazioni nelle pieghette e rughette d'espressione soprattutto attorno alle labbra, quelle che si formano quando sorrido, ed è una cosa che proprio non sopporto, ma lui non lo fa mai, e lo adoro un po' di più solo per quello. Lo so che sembro un po' troppo entusiasta e quasi uno sponsor insistente L'Oreal, ma giuro che nessuno mi sta pagando, semplicemente mi piace così tanto che penso tutte debbano avere questo prodotto nelle loro vite, soprattutto se la vostra pelle ha tendenze acneiche e avete paura dei fondotinta liquidi, come l'avevo io; penso però che anche le pelli secche non lo disprezzerebbero.

As you all may already know from the sort of polemic choir born when it came out, it contains only 20ml of product, instead of the usual 30ml for foundations, but I don't think it's a problem at all: I bought it two months ago and use it every single day since then, and I only used half of it up. I think you can have enough for making it last three months minimum, but even four: you just need the tiniest amount of product to cover your whole face and have a good coverage. It's perfection in foundation form in my opinion, and its only lack to me is not having a pump, because it can a bit messy taking out the product directly by the bottle onto your hands, and sometimes there's the risk to take out a bit too much product you wouldn't use.

Applying tips? Don't ever use a brush: because of its particular formula, it's thought to be applied with your finger, and there's no way to blend it evenly with a brush; I tried every foundation brush I own, but there's no better result than when you just use your fingers to blend it. It's easier, you have more control in the blending action, plus you use a lot less product, because the brush tends to suck it in and not release it on your skin completely. I never used a foundation sponge with it, like a Beautyblender or the Real Techniques dupe, since I don't have neither of them, but I think the problem would be the same. However, applying it with my fingers is never a problem, you just need to be sure of having clean hands, and that's all, it's even faster and you can apply it everywhere, it's perfect for a fast last minute makeup in the morning, you'll never go wrong with it.

Come forse ormai saprete causa coro polemico che si è alzato non appena il prodotto fu lanciato, una boccetta contiene solo 20ml invece che i soliti 30ml degli altri fondotinta, ma io non penso sia in verità un grosso problema: l'ho comprato due mesi fa e l'ho indossato ogni singolo giorno da allora, ma ne ho usato solo metà. Penso si possa benissimo andare avanti tre mesi minimo, ma anche quattro: ne serve la più piccola quantità per truccare tutto il viso e avere una buona coprenza. E' la perfezione imbottigliata sotto forma di fondotinta secondo me, e il suo unico difetto è che non abbia un erogatore decente, perchè è davvero un disastro tirar fuori il prodotto rovesciando la bottiglia sulla mano, e a volte c'è il rischio che ne esca fin troppo, che poi va buttato.

Consigli per l'applicazione? Non usate mai i pennelli: a causa della sua formulazione particolare, è pensato per essere applicato direttamente con le dita, e non c'è modo di stenderlo decentemente con un pennello; ho provato con tutti i pennelli da fondotinta che possiedo, ma non c'è miglior risultato di quando lo si sfuma con le dita. E' più semplice, si ha maggior controllo nell'applicazione, in più si usa molto meno prodotto, dato che i pennelli tendono ad assorbirlo e a rilasciarne solo una piccola quantità. Non l'ho mai usato con una spugnetta da fondotinta, come una Beautyblender o il suo dupe Real Techniques, dato che non possiedo nessuno dei due, ma penso che il problema sarebbe lo stesso. Comunque, applicarlo con le dita per me non è mai stato un problema, basta assicurarsi che le mani siano ben pulite e via, è anche più veloce e lo si può applicare ovunque, perfetto per un makeup dell'ultimo minuto, dato che non è importante prestare grande attenzione all'applicazione, non si può sbagliare.

L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint in 100 Porcelain swiped and blended.

As usual the shade range it's not that big: if you have a skintone a bit lighter or darker than the most common ones, you could have a bit of difficulties in finding your exact shade. I picked up the lightest one, 100 Porcelain, because when it comes to foundation the lightest shade is usually a bit dark for my skin. Maybe it isn't perfect, but it is really similar to my skintone, which is good, and when well blended there's no problem at all. Unfortunately, since I don't buy liquid foundation in a while, I couldn't do any comparison with other foundation shades or finishes. For the ones of you who tried the Pupa Active Light foundation, it's not like that at all, there's no comparison, but if you liked the Pupa one, it doesn't mean you'll hate it: they're different but not opposite and it's definitely worth trying it. Both are water based, but the L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint has oils in it, but to me it has a less oily finish than the oil free Pupa one. Also its finish is matte, silky and not sticky at all. I know you all are wondering about its similarity with the Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation, but no, I don't own it and can't compare the two, however be always aware it's rare to find the exact dupe of a such popular and expensive product; surely if it's at least similar to that one, I'm now super curious to try it, but don't really know if I'll ever be brave enough to betray my new and first favorite liquid foundation. As regard the shade, I can only tell you I'm between a NC15 and a NC20 and 100 Porcelain, the lightest shade, is almost perfect for me. I swatched some of the foundations (mineral and non), BB creams and tinted moisturizers I own, just in case some of you have one of them and wants to make an idea of how light 100 Porcelain is.

Come al solito le tonalità disponibili non sono molte: se avete un colorito più chiaro o più scuro di quelli più comuni, potreste incappare in qualche difficoltà nel trovare il colore adatto a voi. Io ho preso la tonalità più chiara, 100 Porcelain, dato che quando si tratta di fondotinta sono sempre più bianca della tonalità più chiara disponibile. Forse non è proprio perfetto, ma è molto simile alla mia pelle, che è un bene, e se ben steso non c'è assolutamente nessuno stacco. Sfortunatamente, dato che non acquisto fondi liquidi da molto, non ho molto con cui compararne tonalità e finish. Per quelle tra voi che hanno provato il Pupa Active Light, non sono per niente simili, anzi non c'è paragone secondo me, ma se vi è piaciuto il Pupa non è detto che odierete questo: sono diversi ma non opposti e vale decisamente la pena provarlo. Entrambi sono a base d'acqua, ma il L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint contiene oli che il fondotinta Pupa non ha, ma a mio avviso è persino più matte del suo compagno oil free. Inoltre il finish è opaco, setoso e per niente appiccicoso. So che vi state chiedendo se allora è un dupe del Giorgio Armani Maestro o meno, ma mi dispiace deludervi, non possiedo il termine di paragone, ma è bene sempre ricordare che è davvero raro trovare il dupe esatto di un prodotto così popolare e costoso; di sicuro se è almeno simile, sono ora curiosa di provare anche quello, ma non so in realtà se avrò mai il coraggio di tradire il mio nuovo, primo e unico fondotinta liquido preferito. Per quel che riguarda la tonalità, posso solamente dirvi che io sono tra un NC15 e un NC20 e 100 Porcelain, la tonalità più chiara, è praticamente perfetta per me. Ho swatchato alcuni fondi (minerali e non), BB cream e tinted moisturizer che possiedo, giusto in caso alcune di voi vogliano farsi un'idea di quanto chiaro sia 100 Porcelain.

Gosh BB Cream in 02 Beige*, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Creme Compact in Sand*, MAC MSF Natural in Medium, Neve Cosmetics High Coverage Mineral Foundation in Light Neutral, & Other Stories Triple Moist Foundation in 2, L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint in 100 Porcelain

I would say the most similar shade is the & Other Stories one, which is usually a bit too light for me, but even my MSF Natural in Medium is pretty close but more yellow. Gosh BB Cream and Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer are completely exclused, totally too dark for me, but I think noone who owns those colors would have ever thought to buy 100 Porcelain.

Direi che il più simile come tonalità è il fondo & Other Stories, che però è di solito leggermente più chiaro della mia pelle, ma anche la mia MSF Natural nella tonalità Medium gli si avvicina molto, ma è più gialla. La BB Cream Gosh e il tinted moisturizer Laura Mercier sono completamente esclusi (e la macchina fotografica ha ben deciso non valesse nemmeno la pena di metterli a fuoco), del tutto troppo scuri per me, ma penso anche che a nessuno con un incarnato così scuro verrebbe mai in mente di acquistare 100 Porcelain.

I won't spend words on where to buy it, because you all know L'Oreal is everywhere, plus if you can't find in stores you can always buy it on Feelunique.com; it costs 9.99£ for 20ml and with a PAO of 24 months. To me it's a right price for a wonderful foundation, and as soon as I'll hit the bottom of this one I'll definitely repurchase it even without discounts. However it's not a super cheap price, and it's always bad to buy something you'll never use, so you maybe should ask for a sample if you know a place where to do it, like Sephora stores or similar, so that you can have an idea of what it's like. This is not a foundation everyone can love unconditionally and that can suit everybody tastes because of the innovative formula and the unusual finish, but it's surely worth giving it a chance.

Non starò a raccontarvi dove acquistarlo, perchè saprete benissimo che L'Oreal si trova un po' ovunque, in più se proprio non lo trovate negli store (o lo trovate ma solo a prezzi esorbitanti) potete sempre acquistarlo su Feelunique.com; costa intorno ai 13-15€ per 20ml di prodotto e con un PAO di 24 mesi. Per me il prezzo è giusto per un fondotinta di questa buona qualità, e non appena finirò quello che possiedo, lo riacquisterò decisamente anche a prezzo intero. Comunque non è proprio economico, ed è sempre una cattiva idea acquistare prodotti che non si useranno mai, quindi, se potete, chiedete un sample in negozio, come da Sephora o simili, così da poterlo provare e farvi un'idea. Infatti non è sicuramente uno di quei prodotti per tutte e che incontra i gusti di tutte a causa della sua formula innovativa e del suo finish inusuale, ma sicuramente vale la pena dargli una chance.
