Lush Father Christmas (Faccia da Babbo)

It's not a news I was introduced to Lush products just recently, and that I couldn't resist in trying a "few" of their Christmas collection's items; thanks to some Lush ballistics I'm rediscovering the pleasure of having a warm bath in wintertime, and now I could be a little obsessed, just a little. Lush Father Christmas (3,95£) is one of the Christmas ballistics I tested out in my bathroom just a few weeks ago, and since it's so Christmassy and festive, I immediately thought it could be a perfect stocking filler; I know Christmas is like tomorrow now, but there's always someone like me who is terribly late on Christmas shopping, right?

Non è una novità che io sia piuttosto nuova sul fronte Lush, e nemmeno che non sia riuscita a resistere a provare "un po'" di prodotti della loro adorabile collezione natalizia; grazie ad alcune ballistiche Lush sto riscoprendo il piacere di fare un bagno caldo durante l'inverno, e ora potrei essere un pochino ossessionata dalla cosa, solo un pochino. Lush Faccia da Babbo (5,95€) è una delle ballistiche natalizie che ho testato nella mia vasca da bagno solo qualche settimana fa, e dato che è perfetta per questo periodo di festività, ho immediatamente pensato che sarebbe potuta essere un perfetto pensierino di Natale, o altresì detto un perfetto "stocking filler"; lo so che Natale è praticamente domani ormai, ma c'è sempre qualcuno come me terribilmente in ritardo con lo shopping natalizio, vero?

The main reason why I feel like I need to share this sort of review with you, is that Father Christmas is described by Lush as something it is not, or at least completely. They say the ballistic will create a beautiful dance of colors, in particular pink, red and green, leaving behind a lovely glitter trail: to me this description sounds so appealing that, even if I didn't need another ballistic in my new but not that little collection, I finally decided to pick it up too. Once in the water, it starts to tingle, rotate and free colors, but there's no trace of pink and red, not even a little one, nothing: there's a lot of yellow instead, which to me it's ok, but it's not exactly the same thing. Also it hasn't any glitter in it, which is a bit sad since it was the main reason I bought it (I love glitters in my bath), aside its citrus smell. Talking about smell, it is maybe the only thing Lush didn't lie on: it's meant to smell like mandarin and orange, and that's exactly what it is. It a lovely scent perfect for winter time and to recreate a wonderful Christmassy atmosphere.  However the scent doesn't last a lot, but I find it's a problem of every ballistic I tried so far. My water finally turned green as a Christmas tree, which I liked but it was not what I expected.

La ragione principale per cui mi sentivo in dovere di condividere questa sorta di recensione con voi, è che Faccia da Babbo è descritto da Lush come qualcosa che in verità non è, o almeno non del tutto. Dicono che questa ballistica crea bellissimi giochi di colore, in particolare rosso, bianco e verde, lasciando dietro di sé una scia di lustrini scintillanti: alle mie orecchie questa descrizione suonava particolarmente intrigante, tanto che, anche se non avevo bisogno di aggiungere un'altra ballistica alla mia nuova ma non così piccola collezione, ho infine deciso di acquistare anche lei. Una volta nell'acqua inizia a frizzare, ruotare e liberare i colori, e fin qui tutto ok, se non fosse che di rosso nella vasca non c'era traccia, nemmeno la più piccola: al suo posto c'era molto giallo, che per me non è stato un male, ma non è esattamente la stessa cosa. Inoltre non contiene nessun glitter, cosa che invece mi ha rattristato, dato che quella era la prima ragione per cui l'ho acquistato (amo i glitter nella vasca), dopo il profumo agrumato. Parlando di profumazione, questa è forse l'unica cosa su cui Lush non mente: deve profumare di mandarino e così è. E' un profumo perfetto per l'inverno e per ricreare una magica atmosfera natalizia nei vostri bagni. Comunque il profumo non dura a lungo, ma è una cosa che accomuna tutte le ballistiche che ho provato finora. L'acqua nella mia vasca è diventata infine di un bel verde-albero-di-natale, cosa simpatica ma che non mi aspettavo.

In the end I think it's a cute little wintery treat for a pampering session on a lazy Sunday, but also a really great Christmas gift, even for guys and men, since it has nothing too girly in it and the scent is fruity and citrus, not sweet at all. As I said it could be a cute last minute stocking filler, if you still need some gift ideas. However the ballistics price, and this one in particular, it's a bit high if you think you'll use it all in one time: I think it's definitely worth as long as you're aware of what you're buying, which I was not. Don't trust Lush description in this case, because you'll find a different type of products in your hands. But Father Christmas has the funniest face, you can't definitely go wrong with it!

Riassumendo penso che Faccia da Babbo possa essere la coccola invernale perfetta della domenica, ma anche un perfetto regalo di natale, anche per uomini, dato che non ha niente di femminile, nemmeno il profumo che è fruttato e agrumato, per niente dolce. Come ho detto può essere l'ideale stocking filller dell'ultimo minuto, se vi serve qualche idea regalo extra. Il prezzo delle ballistiche, però, e questa in particolare, non è così basso se si pensa che viene smaltita in un solo bagno: penso che ne valga la pena finché si è coscienti di ciò che si sta acquistando, e io non lo ero. Non credete alla descrizione di Lush in questo caso, perchè vi trovereste tra le mani un prodotto completamente differente! D'altronde però Faccia da Babbo ha il sorriso più buffo che ci sia, con lui non si può di certo sbagliare!
