Best of 2013 - Makeup and Tools.

I promised the first 2014 posts would have been a 'Best of 2013' series, and here we are with the first of two post about the best beauty products of the past year. 2013 has been a beauty-full year, and I discovered a lot of new makeup items I loved and really enjoyed wearing all year around; so I'll mention the ones of them I liked the most and I think are actually the best makeup products I used in this passed year.

Starting from the base, this summer I discovered the power of a good old but always pretty multi-functional MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (22£) (mine is in the shade Medium, perfect for summertime, but it also blends pretty well on my rather than pale winter skintone), which is good used as foundation if I don't want to wear any other, but also as a fixing natural powder over a liquid base. And yes, this year I re-discovered the love for liquid foundation, one in particular, the L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau de Teint (9,99£), which is actually the only one I can wear right now: I'm in love with the liquid-to-powder (I just made that up) mattifying formula, pretty unique for a liquid foundation, and the fact that it's the only one hasn't caused me a terrible break out yet. The one in the pictures is my first bottle, but I'll definitely repurchase it as soon as I hit the bottom, and stay tuned on the blog if you're interested in a full review about it (coming pretty soon, this is a promise). Concealer-wise, I have to mention two amazing products I will keep buying until I can, since I can't live without them anymore: for blemish-covering the best of the bunch I tried is definitely the Kiko Full Coverage Concealer (7,50£), which, even if I'm not a huge fan of the brand and its raising prices anymore, is totally the exception that make me give them my money periodically, since it has the best coverage and consistency to last a lot on the skin; as regard under eyes circles covering, I'll genuinely love and adore the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (21£), 'till the end of the days: it has the best coverage for a lightweight creamy concealer, being always pretty natural and never creasing.

I have to admit I went a little mascara and blushes crazy this year, I bought a tun of them, a lot of different colors and formulas, but only a few survived to my critical and perfectionist selection. As regard mascaras, I know you all already start hating me for repeating the same things every time and spread love always to one only product, but it makes the best lashes I can imagine, and yes, I'm still talking about the discontinued L'Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara in Black (5,99£): it's the best in separating and lenghtening the lashes, as well as keeping them curled, and that's exactly what I look for in a mascara. I have a little personal stock, but I definitely need to find a replacement soon! For blushes, I just couldn't select only one of them, and three products have to be mentioned in this category, since they're all pretty different: the Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint in Bang (6£) (complete review here) has been mentioned in a lot of my blog posts in the first half of the year, it's not an usual cream blusher, but instead it's more similar to a tint (as the name suggests), and this sheer red color it's perfect to achieve a natural flush look; the theBalm Instain Long Wearing Powder Blush in Swiss Dot (18£) (complete review here) is the most long wearing powder blush I ever tried, and I loved this warm color as much that this was the only blush I used for a few months; finally, the most recent discovery, is the Bourjois Cream Blush in 02 Healthy Glow (7,30£), the most natural and cute of the trio, but also the nicest texture I ever tried, a truly cream-to-powder blush with a long wearing power every other blusher has to envy.

My lipstick of choice has to be my MLBB shade, the lovely in formula Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in 08 Timeless All (5,49£) (which you can see in action right here), since I'm not a huge lipstick girl, but still like some nude shades, specially if they have such a good formulation as every Rimmel Kate lipstick.
Finally it's mandatory to mention as favorite tools of the years, of course, the Shu Uemura Eyelas Curler (20£) as it's the best lash curler I ever tried, and I'm a huge fan of well-curled eyelashes, and in the end definitely the Real Techniques brushes: in the pictures you can see one of my favorites, the Real Techinque Buffing Brush (part of the Real Techinques Core Collection Kit (20,99€)), but I also love the Real Techinque Contour Brush as well.

I didn't mention any eyeshadow or highlighter and a lot of other categories of products, simply because I haven't fell in love with any of the product I tried the past year in those classes, and I preferred to mention a few more products in the same category, rather than stick to a premade post template but not saying truly what I majorly love. Hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I did when writing it, and please let me know either if you tried some of these products and what you think about them, and which are your personal 2013 makeup (and tools) favorites! I'll see you with the second post of the series in a few days!
